Margaret Gallagher 2nd place, Johnny Huynh 1st
place, and Chetana Srinivas 3rd place in the 2010 Pomona Valley
UNA-USA High School Essay Contest on January 24, 2010. They are
joined by family members, Chapter Co-Presidents Katie Gerecke and
Richard Harris, Chapter Treasurer Emily Burch, SoCal UNA-USA Division
President Mel Boynton, and National UNA-USA Board Member Ardi Rashidi.

The 2010 Essay Contest Winners were celebrated
at the annual gala dinner for the Pomona Valley UNA-USA at Pilgrim
Place. The program included the Claremont winners in the annual
High school essay contest: first place finisher Johnny
Huynh, senior
at Claremont High, second place Margaret
Gallagher,
junior at Claremont High, and third place winner Kalilah
Hyman, junior at Claremont High School. Each was presented
a cash prize for their outstanding efforts. |

Students were asked to write
a letter to the President of the United States answering the following
questions:
1. How can the U.S. build an international system that promotes good
governance, development, and poverty reduction?
2. How can the U.S. promote sustainable development and economic
growth in developing countries?
