McKenna Professor Edward Haley will present “How
to End the Iraq War” The meeting is open
to the public and refreshments will be served. Dr. Haley
is a sought after commentator on Bush and Iraq and on President
Bush's State of the Union Address for NPR's Morning Edition. His
past programs include: “The
Way Forward in Iraq”, and “U.S.
Role in the Middle East: A failed foreign policy - time for a national
debate”. Dr Haley has received numerous awards
including: International Affairs Fellow, Council on Foreign Relations;
and fellowships from Andrew W. Mellon and Randolph and Dora Haynes

Impacts on a Sustainable Future." The meeting is

- Western University Professor Malika Kachani
will speak on “2007 Research and Student Experiences
in Morocco”. The meeting is open to the
public and refreshments will be served. Dr. Kachani is
Professor of Veterinary Medicine and holds a DVM, from Institute
Agronomique et Veterinaire (IAV) Hassan II, Rabat, Morocco,
and a PhD in Parasitology from Brunel University, London, UK. Dr.
Kachani is an active member of the Board of Pomona Valley UNA-USA.

Peace groups
host Interfaith Hiroshima-Nagasaki Day Prayer Vigil - The
Peace with Justice Center of the Pomona Valley will be organizing
its Eighth Annual Hiroshima - Nagasaki Memorial. This event
will be hosted at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 435 Berkeley
Ave., Claremont, in conjunction with Churches, Synagogues,
and Mosques. |

A demonstration against the war in Iraq will be held on Friday, March 16th, from 4:30 to 6:00 P.M. at the corner of Indian Hill and Arrow, Claremont. Large signs stating "Four Years of War: Stop the Killing" and "Congress, Stop Funding War" will be displayed, and smaller signs and crosses may be held by demonstrators. You are encouraged to join and to wear black, as the tone is thoughtful and quiet. |
